In the past few months, I’ve been focusing more on taking notes on what I read and even capturing stray observations.

Here are the top reasons why I think writers in particular should embrace this practice.

1. You generate a wealth of ideas

This has had a profound impact on my personal writing, as I no longer have to rack my brain for some topic or idea to write about.

The notes serve as immediate inspiration.

2. The quality of your ideas is enhanced

Beyond sheer quantity, note-taking serves as refinement. The material is put through the fire, and only the gems come out on the other side.

Capturing thoughts allows for their continuous improvement.

This iterative process becomes a catalyst for innovation, pushing you to think beyond the obvious and go for more originality.
